Biographical/Historical note

Parish Councils were formed under the Local Government Act 1894 to have oversight of various amenities for rural areas. In Wales, Parish Councils became Community Councils by the Local Government Act 1972. Llandenny Parish Council was formed in 1894. Under the 'County of Monmouth Review Order' in 1935 a new civil parish of Raglan United was created, comprising the former civil parishes of Llandenny, Llangovan, Penyclawdd and Raglan.
