Biographical/Historical note
Parish Councils were formed under the Local Government Act 1894 to have oversight of various amenities for rural areas. In Wales, Parish Councils became Community Councils under the Local Government Act 1972. Whitson became part of Goldcliff Community Council.

Records of Whitson Parish Council (1894-1965). The first Minute Book of Whitson Parish Council 1894-1927 also includes Whitson Vestry Meeting minutes 1882-1894. Some records relating to Goldcliff Parish Council ([1923], 1954-1963), and records of shared activities of the two Councils.
