Biographical/Historical note
James Finch had estates at High House Farm (Penrhos) and Pant-y-Goetre Farm (Llanfair Cilgedin). Pant-y-goetre is described in 'A History of Monmouthshire' by Sir Joseph Bradney (vol. 1 pp. 406-407) as 'the principal seat and estate in the parish' although this does not relate to the farm itself. Although the plans use Ordnance Survey sheets, 1901-1922 as base maps the date of the plans may be considerably later than these dates.
Scope and Contents note
Plans of the estate of James Finch at High House Farm (Penrhos) and Pant-y-Goetre Farm (Llanfair Cilgedin). The plans are drawn on Ordnance Survey maps dated from 1901 to 1922 and may have been compiled at a later period.
