The records of the Pentre Estate date from 1685. At this time lands comprising this estate belonged to William Charles. Parts of the estate were sold in 1846, and in 1883 the estate was bequeathed to Herbert Aubrey.

 D1352/22 Office Copy Will and Probate Rebecca Aubrey, wife of Herbert Aubrey of Glonger (Clehonger), co. Herefordshire, esq. appoints as sole executor Robert Gweillym the Elder, newphew of Rebecca. Under powers granted by part-recited Induentures of lease/release 13/14 April 1709:- a. to Herbert Aubrey, all mess. etc., mentioned to be in possession of Gilbert Powell, for his natural life and after his death to Mathew Powell, eldest son of William Powell esq., and his heirs, conditional on payment of £300 within one year, to the three nieces of Rebecca - Elizabeth Schnell, Benedicta Schnell and Mary Mathews to be divided equally among them or among their heirs. (Should payment not be made, property to be equally divided between them). b. to Herbert Aubrey, estate called the Pentre in par. Tregare (in occupation of Evan Charles) for his natural life, and after his death to nephew Robert Gwillym and his heirs, conditional on payment of £250 divided as follows: £50 to Bendicta Gwillym sister, and £200 to Elizabeth Schnell and Bendicta Schnell nieces of Rebecca Aubrey. If Robert Gwillym no issue estate called the Pentre to Elizabeth Parsons, niece of Rebecca, and her heirs. c. to Elizabeth Parsons aforesaid niece of Rebecca Aubrey, lands and premises without Monkgate in the Liberty of the town of Monmouth for her natural life and after her death to Susanna Parsons, daughter of Elizabeth Parsons, aforesaid and her heirs. d. to Robert Gwillym aforesaid nephew, freehold lands and premises in par. Goodrich, co. Herefordshire subject to payment of rent of 40s. per annum to William Hall the Elder for his natural life. e. to Robert Gwillym and his heirs, leasehold lands in par. Goodrich, co. Under powers granted by part-recited tripartite Articles of Agreement 13 April 1708, recording the intended marriage of Rebecca with Herbert Aubrey and setting over thereby to James Scudmore of Monmouth, clerk, Lawrence Schnell of London, merchant and Richard Parsons of Monmouth, gentleman. All the estate, right, title and interest in all those messes, etc., free, copy or customary hold, in pars. Dingestow, Wonastow and Llangattock Vibon Avell and which mortgaged 1 July 1702 by Sybill Pritchard and others to John Evans, deceased for £203; also all that demised plot of land in Monmouth together with two dwellinhouses lately erected which mortgaged 20 March 1702 by Elizabeth Taylor spinster, Samuel Berningbon of Monmouth, gunsmith, and others to John Evans aforesaid for £40; also three bonds 4 December 1703, 5 February 1706, 17 August 1706 (further described) and also all the plate, jewels, linen, bedding, goods and householdstuffs (as schedule annexed thereto), for 99 years on trust that rents, issues, and profits applied, and plate etc., distribed, as directed by Rebecca Aubrey. f. all debts incurred by Rebecca Aubrey to be paid and body buried in parish church of Llangarren, co. Herefordshire with monument to be erected over burial place by executor (bequeathed £40 for so doing and £10 to Phillip Hoskins, cousin of Rebecca for oversight of work). g. for mourning clothes, to Herbery Aubrey, husband of Rebecca, £30 and to Mr Herbert Aubrey the Younger, 20 broad pieces of old gold and Rebecca's best diamond ring. h. various amounts of money to members of family, friends and household servants (names and amounts further specified. i. to the poor of pars. Nash, and an estate called the Pentre in par.
