Biographical/Historical note

The Amalgamated Society of Railways Servants, a trade union for railway workers,was formed in 1872. It was amalgamated with The National Union of Railwaymen when the latter was formed in 1913.

The Pontypool Branch of the National Union of Railwaymen was situated at Springfield House, New Inn.
