Biographical/Historical note
Originally situated in St James’s Square, the Monmouth Hospital and Dispensary first opened in 1868. In 1900, a larger plot of land on Hereford Road was acquired from the Duke of Beaufort for the development of a new hospital.The Monmouth General Hospital opened in 1903, it was designed by Architect Richard Creed.
Scope and Contents note
The collection contains a variety of records relating to Monmouth General Hopsital including proposed plans for the new hospital building c.1901; early 20th century photographs of the building and its medical officers; annual reports 1945/1947; a 1938 survey of hospital sevices and balance sheets/accounts 1945-1947.
