Biographical/Historical note

The donor and three friends had met via the Cardiff Lesbian and Gay Coop around 1985/1986. GLAGG was established in April 1986. GLAGG organised monthly discos in and around Newport to offer an alternative to the Cardiff gay scene, and also to disseminate information on HIV and AIDS. The group often met at the donor's home in Baneswell, then began holding club nights at Lazers on Stow Hill. The group struggled to find venues due to prejudice about the AIDS crisis.

GLAGG attracted people from as far a field as Bristol, and the Valleys to their events.

There were a few offshoots from GLAGG such a short lived writing group and the Gwent Aids Support Group.

GLAGG also had a banner which was carried at the Cardiff Pride and London Prides of 1986 and 1987.
