 D384/1 Surrender Manor of Monmouth in the presence of Jacob Cock, Deputy Chancellor and Receiver (1) Robert wade of Osbaston (2) Joan, wife of the above (3) John Donne of Monmouth Two parcels of pasture and meadowland (2 acres) now in the occupation of Robert Wade and Thomas Donne of Llangaran Co. Hereford situated in the Parish of Monmouth and the aforesaid manor, one parcel of pasture land being between the lands of Izote Waters, widow on the one part and the River of Monnow on the other part and another road leading from Rickerdes Forde towards Osbaston and another parcel of meadowland lying between the lands of Edward Tornour, the lands of John Powell of Whitchurche gent and the royal road leading from Treggett towards Monmouth. Together with a deputation from Matthew Herbert, Chancellor and Receiver of Monmouth to Joseph Cocks to make the above surrender Damaged Chancery of Monmouth seal. Right hand side of surrender also damaged. 15 Aug 1586 

 D384/2 Surrender Manor of Monmouth in the presence of Morris Gwillim and Charles Herbert, Deputy Chancellors (1)William Powell of Perthyre, esquire (2) George Powell, brother of the above All lands tenements etc customary and not free within the boundary of the parish of Monmouth within the southern head of the certain bridge called Perthyre Bridge and the high road leading towards the bridge and towards the gate built on the eastern side of one parcel of land belonging to William Powell which extends towards the said bridge head and within the lands of the heirs of John Fryor deceased and the lands of Richard Roberts or his mother and between another parcel of lands belonging to the heirs of John Fryor aforesaid which adjoins the river Monnow there between the river as far as the aforesaid bridge and between lands there of Hugh Powell of Whitchurche, esquire on all parts, together with certain lands pastures, meadows and tenements customary and not free which lie within the parish of Rockefilde and within the pasture lands called Rychardes Meadowe, John Hughes, his home and le longe meadowe and which are in 2 other parcels of arable land where one lies adjacent in length to and upon the south side of one close of land of the same William Powell called le lymekill close and another adjoining the eastern head aforesaid of another parcel there in and which aforesaid two parcels of the last said land are and will be the same ancient pedestrian way which leads to the bridge aforesaid towards another bridge called Tregettes Bridge and also all those other lands etc. which are customary and not free lying and being wheresoever within the manor aforesaid and without its boundaries. Quotes an Indenture dated 20 November 1598 between William Powell and June his wife, Walter Jones and Mary his wife and Jacob Watkins. To either with a deputation from Matthew Herbert of Colbrock, esquire, Chancellor and Receiver of the manor of Monmouth to Morris Gwillim and Charles Herbert to make the above surrender. 22 Jan 1599

 D384/18 Bargain and Sale (1) Bridgett Powell, spinster of Perthire, Co. Monmouth, Catherine Powell, spinster of the same place and Winifred Powell, a spinster of the same place. (2) Thomas Evans of Llangattock vibon Avell, Co. Monmouth and Thomas Belchier of Monmouth. The water corn mills and fulling mills called Perthire Mills etc. and the closes of land called the Mill Lane, David's Meadow, the New Meadow and the litle Mill Field with appurtenances in the par. of Rockfield. The purpose of the sale being to raise money to pay the debts of the sisters owed to Frances Watkins, spinster (£120 with interest), Francis Baskerville, gent. (£100 with interest), Ellinor Winter, widow (£80 with interest) whereof £40 is paid to Bentall (£27 with interest), Phillip Dobbins (£23 with interest), Winifred, the wife of John Frazier (£100 with interest), Catherine Scudamore (£20 with interest), Richard Jenkins Esq.  D384/20 Assignment of Mortgage 15 Dec 6 George I 1719 (1) Hugh Price of par. of Lanvihangel Isterne Llewerne, Co. Monmouth, gent. (2) Francis Baskerville of Perthire, Co. Monmouth, gent. (3) Richard Taylor of the town of Monmouth, Co. Monmouth, corn merchant. £110. All that tenement etc. in par. of Rockfield, Co. Monmouth, six closes of arable land and pasture, one close of wood or rough ground, 2 closes of meadow (22 1/2 acres) adjacent to lands of Mary Powell, Martin Boothbye, Thomas Powell and the parish bounday. Mortgage repayable 1722. Interest £2.15. In 1704 these lands were mortgaged to Charles Haine late of Redbrooke Co. Gloucester, and in 1717 the mortgage was transferred to the aforesaid Hugh Price. Enrolled in Quarter Session at Chepstow 14 Jul 1731, in the presence of Thomas Lewis, John Curre and John Pritchard, Justices and Thomas Clifford, Clerk of the Peace. 15 Dec 1719 

 D384/21 Deed of Trust 30 January 6 George I 1720 by Richard Taylor that as party to a pair of Indenture bearing date the 14 and 15 December 1719 conveying 22 1/2 acres of land in par. of Rockfield, Co. Monmouth he was acting not for himself but on behalf of Robert Watkins of the towne of Monmouth that he would not consequently be entitled to any profits nor liable for any damages. 30 Jan 1720

(2) Thomas Roberts, gent and Anne his wife and John Roberts, gent. deforciants One messuage, two gardens, 2 orchards, 50 acres of land, 20 acres of meadow, 20 acres of furze and heath and common pasture in parish of Llangattock vibon avel £60. MM 1722 

 D384/23-24 Lease (1) Bridget Powell, Catherine Powell, Winifred Powell, spinsters of Perthyre, Co. Monmouth. (2) Edward Long the younger of Flaxley, Co. Gloucester, gent. Capital messuage etc. called Perthyre together with the tithes arising out of the said premises. 12 years at £120 p.a for 3 years, £125 p.a. for the remainder. The Powells still retained certain rights over timber and over 46 acres of corn and wheat for which they would pay the appropriate taxes. With Counterpart 20 Jul 1726

 D384/27 Declaration of Trust of William Watkins Esq. of the town of Monmouth and William Cox, gent. of Rockfield as trustees to Michael Lorymer the younger of Perthyre in administration of an indenture of Assignment involving a capital messuage and lands in par. of Rockfield, alias Rornkenelly for which a consideration of £800 was paid on behalf of the said Michael Lorymer. 25 Mar 1742 

 D384/28 Lease (1) Bridget Powell, spinster of Perthire, par. of Rockfield, Co. Monmouth and Winifred Powell, spinster of the same par. (2) William Richards, miller of the same par. A water grist mill called Perthires Mill, three meadows called David's Meadow, the new meadow and the Oakham (13 acres), the use of Mill Lane and all that messuage lately occupied by Edward Richards miller, deceased in the par. of Rockfield, Co. Monmouth together with all waters, the said Bridget and Winifred Powell, their heirs and assigns reserving the right to fish in the pound, the use of the flood gates, the use of the Mill Lane and the way leading through Davids Meadow to their farm called Copes Farm. 21 year. £50 p.a. 29 Apr 1742 

 D384/29 Probate of Will of Phillip Badham of the Lower Copperworks, Redbrook in the par. of Newland, Co. Gloucester. Bequests include five dwelling houses situated over Monnow in town of Monmouth with appurtenances to Sarah Jones for the term of her natural life. 27 Jul 1747

 D384/31-33 Gift (1) Thomas ap Morgan, knight, lord of the manor of Saynt Bryde, Wylkryke, Llandevenew. (2) Henry Jamys, Margaret Vergh Howell, wife of the above Henry Jamys. One tenement, 3 gardens and 16 acres of meadow in par. of Saynt Bryde and Wylkrek within the manor of Saynt Bryde, which tenement and three gardens however and nine acres of land and meadow were lately in the tenure of Thomas Addam one garden whereof lying next to the said tenement, another in the field of Lewis ap Richard and the third in the field of the heirs of John Vaughan ap John ap Gwillim, one and a half acres of land lying in a similar field called le Barnes between the land of Howell Taylor and the land of the abbot of Tynterne, three acres of land lying in a field called le fyve acres, one acre of land lying next to the aforesaid field, two acres of land lying in Llandervenewe fylde one acre of which is called lle long acre and the other le quarryacre, one acre lying in le west fylde and half an acre of meadow lying in the meadow called Llandevenewe mede, six acres which were lately in the tenure of Thomas Crome. 2 of which lie similarly between the land of the Abbot of Tynterne, the land of Jenkyn Thomas and le Barnes, four acres of land lying next to le nokelane of which two acres are called le dewlake and the other 2 acres the quarry acres and one acre lately being in the tenure of David Webbe and lying in Llandevenewe fylde. 15 p.a. payable on the feasts of Hocktide and St. Michael the Archnagel together with suit of court for a reasonable summons and the heriot when it falls due and two taxes payable on the Feast of the Circumcision of our Lond, the Lord retaining the right of reentry and distraint for non payment of rent. Together with a deputation from Thomas ap Morgan to William Morgan Robnet, gent. To put the above gift into effect. Attached to the gift: Third week of the feast of St. Michael 1675.
