Biographical/Historical note
Parish Councils were formed under the Local Government Act 1894 to have oversight of various amenities for rural areas. In Wales, Parish Councils became Community Councils by the Local Government Act 1972. Magor Community Council, created in 1974, was in the area of Newport Borough Council, while the neighbouring Community of Undy was in Monmouth District Council's area. Following proposals by the Boundary Commissioner, Magor moved from Newport Borough Council to Monmouth District Council. In 1986 the two Communities of Magor and Undy were united to form Magor with Undy Community Council. The inaugural meeting of the new Council was held on April 3rd, 1986.
