Biographical/Historical note

Llanvapley is situated 4 miles east from Abergavenny railway station and 10 west from Monmouth; in the Northern division of the county, Hundred, Petty Sessional division, Union and County Court district of Abergavenny; north-western division of Abergavenny rural deanery, Monmouth archdeaconry and Llandaff diocese.

The church of St. Mapley is a building of stone, in the Early English style, restored in 1861 by the Rev. John Lloyd M.A. and consists of chancel, nave, south porch and an embattled western tower, containing 2 bells. The register dates from the year 1699.
