Biographical/Historical note
The Pontypool (Eastern Valley) Methodist Circuit was the product of the amalgamation in 1939 of the Pontypool (High Street) Methodist Circuit , the Garndiffaith Circuit, and the Blaenavon Circuit (each formed in 1932 at the time of Methodist Union, from other circuit arrangements of the Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist Connexions).The Pontypool High Street Circuit before Methodist Union was known as the Pontypool Wesleyan Circuit. The Garndiffaith Circuit befopre Union was the Blaenavon Circuit in the United Methodist Church, and the Blaenavon Circuit previously a Primitive Methodist Circuit. The Pontypool Circuit of the Methodist Church was formed in 1968 by the amalgamation of the Pontypool (Eastern Valley) Circuit and the Pontypool (Park Terrace) Circuit.
