Biographical/Historical note

Born in 1901,Councillor John ("Jack") Stockton was elected chairman of Tredegar Urban District Council on three occasions. He was an active member of the council for many years.

Councillor Stockton died in 1963.

Both Stocktonville and Stockton Way in Tredegar are named after him.

Tredegar Urban District Council was founded in 1894, superseding Tredegar Local Board. It was abolished in 1974.
