Biographical/Historical note
In 1932 the Methodist Church was united to include the former Wesleyan, United and Primitive Methodist churches. The Stow Hill, Newport Wesleyan Methodist Circuit and the Station Street Primitive Circuit combined at this time to form the Stow Hill Methodist Circuit and this together with the Hill Street Circuit became the Newport Methodist Circuit in 1961. Commercial Road Wesleyan Methodist Church, Pillgwenlly, was one of the churches in the Stow Hill Wesleyan Methodist Circuit before the circuits were combined.

Church, Minute Book of Sunday School and Ragged School; Pillgwenlly Wesleyan Methodist Church, Minute Book of Sunday School. (These are believed to be the same church.)
