General note

The original record cards for this collection, which were produced before 1952, have spelling and typing errors and gaps due to a faulty typewriter. These have been corrected as far as is obvious e.g. 'lunactic' was replaced with 'lunatic' and 'Gentlemen' with 'Gentleman' when singular. Original place name spellings from documents have been preserved e.g. 'Bergavenny', however in some cases there is uncertainty over identification of old spellings or typist errors such as 'surburds' which has been corrected to 'suburbs'. Some spelling errors may remain. Where party numbers have been given on record cards as 'of first part', 'of second part', these have been replaced with numbering system e.g. 1, 2, 3.
